Company Profile

As a leading global rail equipment supplier, the Company provides vehicles and electromechanical systems worldwide, including signaling systems, power supply systems, communication systems, fire protection systems, automated fare collection (AFC) systems, and depot equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project RAMS technical tasks and coordinate RAMS-related activities.
  • Ensure that RAMS requirements comply with international standards and contractual agreements.
  • Regularly communicate RAMS topics with project stakeholders, including customers, subsystem suppliers, general contractors, and independent safety assessors.
  • Participate in project meetings related to RAMS coordination and management.
  • Coordinate RAMS work progress and documentation submissions with subsystem designers and suppliers.
  • Review and provide feedback on subsystem RAMS documentation, ensuring all comments are addressed until final closure.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing RAMS reports, organizing RAMS technical analysis meetings.
  • Organize regular RAMS meetings with subsystem suppliers to track progress and resolve technical issues.
  • Manage RAMS interfaces between different systems (e.g., hazard transfer and mitigation measures).
  • Maintain and update the Hazard Log, ensuring that safety measures are properly implemented and verified.
  • Assist in reviewing RAMS reports and facilitate RAMS safety case discussions.
  • Support the establishment of a project site fault data recording system, coordinating the collection and validation of field failure data for RAMS verification. This role requires strong communication, coordination, and technical analysis skills to ensure compliance with RAMS requirements across the entire project lifecycle.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills for RAMS Engineer

  1. Educational Background & Professional Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Rail Transportation, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in RAMS engineering, preferably in the rail transit sector.
  • Experience with rolling stock RAMS assessment, safety case development, hazard analysis, and risk assessment.
  1. Technical Knowledge & Industry Standards
  • Strong understanding of RAMS methodologies, including:
  1. Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  2. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
  3. Hazard Log Management
  4. Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) modeling
  5. Risk assessment methodologies (e.g., ALARP principles)
  • Proficiency in RAMS-related international safety and reliability standards, such as:
  1. EN 50126 (RAMS for railway applications)
  2. EN 50128 (Software safety for railway control and protection systems)
  3. EN 50129 (Safety-related electronic systems in signaling)
  4. ISO 26262 (If working with functional safety aspects in railway electronics)
  5. CENELEC and IEC standards applicable to railway safety
  • Familiarity with RAMS modeling tools, such as Reliability Workbench, Isograph, ReliaSoft, DOORS, or similar software is a plus.
  1. Language & Communication Skills
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken) for technical communication and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate in the local language of the project site (e.g., German, French, Spanish) is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills, capable of preparing RAMS reports, safety cases, and risk assessments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to coordinate across multiple stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, safety assessors, and certification bodies.

 

  1. Project & Stakeholder Management
  • Experience working in an international team environment, preferably in multi-disciplinary railway projects.
  • Ability to coordinate RAMS-related tasks with rolling stock designers, system engineers, and suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of addressing RAMS issues, hazard mitigation measures, and safety assurance challenges.
  • Ability to participate in and lead technical discussions with independent safety assessors, certification bodies, and project stakeholders.

 

  1. Site Support & Failure Data Analysis
  • Experience in field failure data collection and analysis to support RAMS verification and validation.
  • Knowledge of on-site testing procedures, including reliability demonstration tests, failure logging, and corrective action tracking.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to project sites for RAMS assessments, inspections, and safety validations.

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in urban metro, high-speed rail, or light rail projects.
  • Background in cybersecurity for railway control systems is a plus.
  • Understanding of predictive maintenance and asset management strategies based on RAMS principles.
  • Certifications in RAMS engineering or railway safety (e.g., TÜV Functional Safety Certification, IRIS certification experience) would be an advantage.
